New Site

June 14th, 2009 by austin

Well, seeing as John is way too lazy to update, I figure I’ll post up some exciting news.

I’ve spent the last couple of weeks completely overhauling the site, including all the graphics and code.  It’s now much smarter than you think ;)  I’ve added the following features to make my life and other peoples easier.

  • Nav bar is at the top, cleaner IMO
  • Added an administration page where you can add events, news, and pictures.
  • Using php, I’m able to make most of the content dynamic now, as the news and events you see are now live.
  • The pictures populate themselves on the page when you add them, no work involved.  You can just login and upload the picture and thumbnail from the site, then ‘voila’, you have another picture.
  • Flash is our friend again, taking care of the banner and only needing to load once per visit.

Lots of new features and cool stuff.  I’m always open to opinions or criticism, so leave em here if you want.  Let me know what you think, and enjoy the new site!!

RandomRacing Project 240sx

March 2nd, 2009 by john

This is John, and i wont be lazy for a while and keep a running log on our project 240. It is owned between me and Brian. We plan to build it as a cheap drift car. Keeping this to minimum and have fun messing with it, such as body work, stripping the interior, and learning how to drift it.
History of the car. It is a 1991 Nissan 240sx LE HatchBack. It is 5speed with the stock KA24, with 242xxx miles. We picked it up for $650.
Here is the car they way we bought it and our friend, Jim, towing it home for us.

Welcome to the Random Racing Blog

Well, after some thought I decided a blog may be pretty cool, especially after John showed some interest in posting stuff about his 240.  Who knows what we will post on here, I mean let’s face it: not all of Random Racing is very articulate :P  I’d expect some ramblings about recent events, ricers, etc…

Anyone can register (I think, got to check the settings), so feel free to become a subscriber so you can comment and stuff. Let us know what you want to hear about!

I recently updated the pictures site using some new javascript so the images load over the page instead of on a new page. I was trying to figure this one out for a while, sorry for the delay haha.

So we recently went to a Drift Nirvana event at Summit Point. Besides the freezing cold weather it was a lot of fun. There were some pretty nice rides, but it was mainly 240-ville. A couple of guys looked to be on the pro level; somebody in an AE86 drifted the top of the slingshot (which appears to be no more than a car length across). Overall a fun event, but I’d like to see a Random Racer get out there as well.
